What you Need

In this course we will be using Fusion, Arduino, as well as building some electronics. With that it is a good idea to have access to basic electronics tools:

  • Clean work area
  • Soldering Iron and solder
  • Mag light
  • Cutters
  • Breadboard
  • Jumper Wires
  • Header Pins
  • USB C (for the micro controller)

You will also need:

  • Fusion (Hobby license is fine)
  • Arduino (local or web IDE)

While we will be walking through the Arduino IDE board and library manager we will not be explaining how to install and set up the basic program. Visit https://www.arduino.cc/ to learn more about the Arduino IDE and programming language. We will guide you through the programming of an HID controller so no prior programming knowledge will be required.

A parts list is provided in the course downloads but the 3 main items we will be using are:

Different items can be used and we discuss variations to the push buttons and controller. The basic idea is to find a small microcontroller with built in HID compatibility.

This course is not sponsored or associated with Adafruit, but they do a great job supporting the community so I do suggest you shop with them. We will be using their HID library as well as publicly available electronics designs.
